» » » Jubilee Senator under fire after attacking Daughters of Raila.

By - Winnie Mabel

  • Daughters of Raila is an organistion constituted by volunteers to help drum up support for Raila Odinga's presidency
  • Jubilee Senator Millicent Odhiambo took to social media to bash the organistation's executive committee, claiming it was formulated along tribal lines
  • She told women to join Jubilee because the ruling party is inclusive
  • Kenyans bashed Omanga for her sentiments, considering not all the women in the committee are from one tribe as she claimed

Jubilee Party’s nominated Senator Millicent Omanga took to social media on Thursday, October 5, to express her discontent with the Daughters of Raila executive committee.

In her attack, Omanga claimed that the Committee is strictly made up of one tribe and called on Kenyan women to open their eyes when dealing with the opposition. “How would a 14 steering committee be from one tribe...Clearly this is a one tribe affair. Please Kenyan women open your eyes wide. The only political party which has all women from all the Kenyan communities and counties is Jubilee,

"Thank you to Uhuruto for being inclusive. JUBILEE for Kenya,” wrote Omanga. It would be important to note that not all the women in the Committee are from one tribe, considering one of them, Joyce Queen Ndinda, the Organising Secretary is from the Kamba tribe.

Kenyans were quick to take Omanga to task over her claims, telling her to mind her business. In the comments section, she went on the defensive, defending her remarks about the Committee.

The Daughters of Raila have various chapters across the country. They can be found in Western, Nyanza and Coastal regions as well as in Nairobi and other counties.

In her defense, Omanga commented on some comments, saying she was only looking out for inclusivity of Kenyan women in whatever they do.

"When women are sidelined and discriminated am hurt that’s for sure," replied Omanga to one of the comments to her post.
